A differing, more versatile and easier to use management system for IT-equipment and lease contract administration was long needed for. The planning of SaaS-offering for Herlevi Capital Oy had already progressed to production development, when the project schedule proved to be too demanding for the first-chosen system vendor.
Tarmo Herlevi, the Managing Director of Herlevi Capital Oy considered the change to a new and young vendor as a risk.
“Changing to Aava proved very quickly to be the right decision. The views of both parties matched”.
Aava felt that there was something and special to be accomplished with the project:
“We had delivered Aava Platform to traditional enterprise resource planning needs and when we received a changed to build an e-commerce success story, we jumped right in” says Jari Heiskanen, CEO of Aava Software.
Herlevi states further: “We valued cost effectiveness, flexibility, firm pricing model and commitment to the schedule”.
Having been involved in many IT-development projects Herlevi valued customer-centric design, understanding of customer’s business idea and keeping the end-users in mind throughout the project.
Herlevi continues: “As a side-product, this project created an extremely good interactive communications method in our wide industry. Data collection and utilization is easy between various actors. So this makes us a global asset-management provider”.
In addition to having assessed the risk of changing a vendor, Herlevi was pondering how other partners would keep up pace with Herlevi and Aava. Between the partners the co-operation has been good and whilst the equipment and contracts management system is not yet finalized, it naturally evolves with customer represented needs.
“I believe that after finding a good vendor, every customer wants to build a long-term relationship, in which the vendor can actually meet the needs for further development” Herlevi concludes.
For Aava the project completion was a clear proof of solution flexibility:
“Instead of system implementation taking several months or even years, Aava’s method of working enables extremely agile, phased implementation, allowing the customer to take advantage of the system benefits. With user experiences we can then modify and develop the system futher to meet business and user needs. The customer doesn’t have to, and they cannot always at the project start know their final needs” says Aava sales and marketing manager Markku Koponen.
